Leo Messi, to the Cornellà team: “We are very excited about this new project”

The Argentine footballer Leo Messi, a member of Inter Miami and international for his country, has expressed his support to the staff, coaching staff and employees of UE Cornellà after his recent acquisition of the majority of the club’s ownership and has expressed himself “excited” about the beginning of a new institutional stage in the Baix Llobregat entity (Barcelona).

Through a video sent internally, the new owner of the club expressed his closeness to all levels and his willingness to accompany the growth of the sports project. “I wanted to greet you and tell you that we are here, to grow and help in whatever is needed. We are very excited about this new project,” Messi said in that video.

Furthermore, as UE Cornellà explained to Europa Press, the world champion assured that he closely follows the evolution of the team and that he is involved in its competitive trajectory. “I’m following them and doing my best every weekend,” he added, after having recently shared on social media that he was watching a team match live.

With two days left until the end of the Tercera RFEF regular season, UE Cornellà has already assured its presence in the ‘playoff’ for promotion to Second RFEF, the first major objective of the club that has just bought Leo Messi, neighbor of RCD Espanyol, as the Nou Estadi Municipal de Cornellà is separated by just a few meters from the RCDE Stadium.

The club faces this new stage with the aim of continuing to consolidate a “project rooted in Cornellà de Llobregat”, with prominence for the youth team and with the ambition of taking a “leap at a sporting and institutional level”.
