Auction of the right to use telecommunication codes and numbers, starting at 250 million VND

The codes and numbers given in this round belong to two groups. The information answering service number group (national service number) includes 1515 and 1559, and the short message application service number group includes 5151, 6789 and 9999.

The auction was organized by Vietnam Auction Partnership Company and took place online on the unit’s system. Parties participate in the bidding method, gradually increasing each round.

The starting level between the two groups of numbers is different. With the number of information answering services, each number has a starting price of one billion VND, a step price of 20 million VND and a deposit of 200 million VND. Meanwhile, short message numbers start at 250 million VND, starting at 5 million VND and have a deposit of 50 million VND.

The Vietnam Auction Partnership Company said it will accept auction participation documents online until 5:00 p.m. on April 13.

Organizations and businesses established under Vietnamese law can participate, provided they fulfill relevant financial obligations. After winning the auction, the business must commit to putting the telecommunication code and number into operation within 6 months from the date of allocation.

Sessions will take place on April 16, divided by code, number and time frame. Specifically, two numbers 1515 and 1559 are auctioned in the morning, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., respectively.

Number 9999 is also played in the morning, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The remaining two numbers, 5151 and 6789, are held in the afternoon, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 1:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Previously, from March 18 to 20, the Ministry of Science and Technology organized the auction of the national domain name “.vn” for the first time. This round recorded 37 out of 50 domain names successfully auctioned, reaching a rate of 74%. The highest winning amount is 1.5 billion VND. Some sessions had up to 85 bids for a domain name. In 2026, the Ministry will organize a second domain name auction scheduled for June, with 50 domain names.
