Iran announces that it has closed the Strait of Hormuz again

“Control of the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous state, and this strategic route is under strict management and control by the Armed Forces,” announced the spokesman for the Central General Headquarters Jatam al Anbiya, Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfagari, in a statement reproduced by the agency EFE.

Zolfagari stated that Tehran had allowed a “limited and managed” passage of some oil and commercial ships as a “gesture of good faith” within the framework of negotiations with the US, but that the measure was reversed due to the continuation of the American blockade of Iranian ports.

“Until the United States reestablishes full freedom of transit for vessels to and from Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain under strict control,” he declared.
