OpenAI is working on its own smartphone powered by an AI agent, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo

OpenAI works in your own smartphone in which artificial intelligence will have a central role in managing the lives of users, for which it already works with important industry suppliers of both processors and software.

The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, has been predicting the arrival of los personal smart devices that will replace ‘smartphones’, that will allow a more natural use through conversation, and that will cover all aspects of people’s lives with a great understanding of the context.

While this device arrives, the technology company has among its plans to develop its own ‘smartphone’, because they will continue to be the most used consumer devices in the coming years, as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo points out in an article shared in X.

OpenAI aims to give a twist to the ‘smartphone’ concept, which will display a strong integration of artificial intelligencein line with the personal device that its CEO predicts, thanks to the total control of the design, from the ‘hardware’ to the ‘software’.

To this end, the technology company has initiated a collaboration with important industry suppliers, such as MediaTek y Qualcomm for the development of processors and Luxshare for manufacturing, according to the analyst. Mass production is expected to begin in 2028.

This ‘smartphone’ will offer a different experience from what mobile phones currently offer, since it will not depend on applications and instead will integrate an artificial intelligence agent, which will run both on the device and in the cloud, depending on the needs of the requested task.
