Smartphone, the new challenge is to transform every shot into a story

The smartphone has become the point where computational photography, artificial intelligence, entertainment, productivity and design meet. In a global market that is slowing down and in which users change phones less often, manufacturers are looking for new reasons to make upgrading desirable: more dynamic images, larger batteries, less tiring displays, foldable formats and software capable of adapting to the context.

It is in this scenario that Xiaomi presented the new one in Vienna Xiaomi 17T Seriescomposed of Xiaomi 17T e Xiaomi 17T Pro. The new range focuses above all on imaging, with a triple camera developed with Leica, a 5x telephoto lens on both models and the Leica Live Momentdesigned to capture both the single moment and the movement and emotion that precede it. The declared objective is to transform photography from a static image into a short visual story, in line with an increasingly social and narrative use of the smartphone.

The new series introduces a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 5x Leica telephoto lens with optical stabilization, up to 10x optical level zoom and up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom. Cinematic 4K recording at 60 fps also arrives on the Pro model, while Leica Live Portrait extends the bokeh effect to motion portrait mode. The aim is to put a device capable of creating content ready to be shared in the user’s hands.

Alongside the camera, Xiaomi insists on two other guidelines: display and autonomy. The 17T Series integrates the technology Xiaomi Vision Caredesigned to automatically adapt the screen to lighting conditions and reduce blue light, flicker and motion blur. The 1.5K AMOLED display reaches a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz on the Pro model and 120 Hz on the basic version.

On the battery front, Xiaomi 17T Pro features a 7,000 mAh unit with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging; Xiaomi 17T drops to 6,500 mAh with 67 W charging. For Italy the launch campaign is entrusted to Matteo Berrettinichosen to accompany the claim linked to the ability to “capture every moment”.
