The Israeli Autobrains, Uber and Nvidia will launch an autonomous taxi service

Autonomous driving systems used for robotaxis services have to date mainly relied on dedicated vehicles, expensive sensor systems and heavy and complex computing architectures – a model that makes it difficult for a wide commercial deployment and to switch between different car manufacturers, models and markets.

Autobrains brings a different approach to the industry, instead of one large AI system that tries to solve the entire driving task from end to end, the company operates a network of dedicated AI agents, each of which specializes in a different type of driving decision – understanding the environment, identifying risks, analyzing the context and choosing the right action in real time.

This approach allows the system to deal with complex and unpredictable urban situations in a more efficient and flexible way, using standard sensors and more efficient vehicle computing power. The meaning for Robotaxis services is the potential for wider deployment, at a lower cost, and on different vehicle platforms, and not just in one dedicated vehicle.

Munich is one of the leading automotive centers in Europe, characterized by dense city streets, highways and a neat German regulatory framework. Therefore, Munich provides a suitable launch environment for autonomous mobility on a global commercial scale. The system is expected to integrate into Uber’s transportation platform and operate autonomous transportation services as part of its ecosystem.

The program combines Uber’s transportation and ride-hailing network, the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform designed for autonomous level 4 robotics, and Autobrains’ Agentic AI autonomous driving technology. The combination between a global transportation platform, vehicle computing infrastructure and flexible autonomous driving technology is intended to create a basis for the deployment of commercial robotaxis services in different cities and on different vehicle platforms.

Autobrains employs about 100 AI, autonomous driving and software experts, and operates from the company’s headquarters in Tel Aviv and Munich. The company has over 300 patents and works with car manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers and mobility companies to provide advanced assistance systems and autonomous driving. To date, Autobrains has raised approximately $140 million from investors including Temasek, BMW Ventures, Toyota Ventures, Continental, Knorr-Bremse and VinFast.
