Ceiling fan control error, disabling a series of smartkeys

On the morning of June 11, the Radio Frequency Department – Ministry of Science and Technology said it had successfully handled an interference source in Dak Lak.

Previously, on June 10, receiving feedback from people about the phenomenon of many vehicles using smart locks having problems in Tan An ward, the Department’s Regional Center VII coordinated with the Frequency Control Department to check and determine the cause. At 3:00 p.m. the same day, the technical team determined that the source of the interference was from a remote control device used for ceiling fans of households in the area.

This device is faulty, continuously transmitting signals on the frequency of 433.918 MHz. This is the frequency range used by many low-power remote control systems, including smart locks on cars and motorbikes. Emitting abnormal signals affects the ability of vehicles in the area to receive commands.

After being processed, the operation of cars and motorbikes using smartkey has returned to normal.

Recently, the Radio Frequency Department has repeatedly detected and handled problems related to electronic devices emitting signals coinciding with smartkey frequencies. These sources of interference often come from faulty wireless devices, such as vibrators in coffee shops, rolling door keys, water pump switches, and fire alarms. Most of them are non-compliant devices, bought by people from sources floating on the market.

To ensure frequency safety and avoid similar incidents, the Radio Frequency Department recommends that people should buy and use radio wave application equipment of clear origin, certified, announced and labeled with a conformity mark according to current regulations.
