Facebook adds new ‘AI Mode’ search engine and two creative functions for photos and videos | social networks | Goal

Facebook has introduced a new ‘AI Mode’ search tab that, powered by Meta AI, offers answers based on the culture, opinions and recommendations that users share in Meta applications, in addition to adding two new functions to enhance the creative experience from the social network’s ‘app’.

The Meta-owned platform aims to improve the user experience to help them achieve their goals with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), whether to “find real answers from real people” or to create “ready to share” content.

In this sense, Meta has presented ‘AI Mode’, a new search tab that allows you to get answers to any question directly on Facebook, thanks to Meta AI. Specifically, the answers offered are based on “what people comment publicly” in the company’s applications, as well as in Groups and Reels.

The biggest difference of its new ‘AI Mode’ compared to the AI Mode of the Google search engine is that, apart from exploring the ‘feed’ to provide answers according to the user’s content, it makes it easier to obtain real perspectives and experiences, “instead of a generic list of search results”, as it has shared a statement on its website,

Facebook’s new AI Mode is located as a tab just to the left of ‘Everyone’ at the top of the ‘app’, and is powered by Muse Spark, Meta’s own AI model.

Create and share fun videos and photos

The second novelty from Facebook introduces new editing capabilities, which will allow users to play with the content they generate through the social network.

Facebook is looking for the more fun tone of AI editing by updating itself with new collage templates and new transitions, which aim to make video edits cleaner and more complete when sharing content from the gallery.

This new experience means that the user is able to rescue photos and videos that have been forgotten in memory and, once selected from the gallery, create impressive videos and collages ready to share with a single touch. However, the user is given the option to use them or not, since Facebook has indicated that these suggestions can be completely disabled.

Additionally, new presets have been introduced that, like Google’s Gemini image editing, allow you to change the clothes, hair, and accessories of the person in a photo.

For example, in relation to the 2026 World Cup, Facebook has published a short video in which you can see how this feature works, which, with three simple taps (choose ‘AI Edit’, then ‘Wear it’ and select the shirt), allows you to add the official kit of the user’s national team to a photograph.
