This is the future of Apple devices: from the foldable iPhone and AI glasses to AirPods with a camera

Apple has already devised its roadmap for the coming years, which will delve deeper into design again and will be made up of an agenda of devices led by the foldable iPhone their glasses with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the style of Meta’s Ray-Ban and the new AirPods with a camera.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, in his ‘Power On’ newsletter, apart from addressing the main challenge of the next Apple CEO, John Ternus, in having to regain the relevance of the American brand’s design team, reveals a product agenda that will expand its portfolio with new home devices and glasses with augmented reality and IA.

Ternus will have to regain Apple’s industrial design leadership after the departure of Jony Ive in 2019, which meant that this department stopped occupying a direct seat at the executive table with the appointment of his successor Evans Hankey, and his profile seems appropriate to address this challenge, since he comes from hardware engineering, although he must find a top-level design leader, according to Gurman in his ‘newsletter’.

Gurman says that “the next CEO knows that a major restructuring is needed in the design and is preparing to leave his signature on the team.” And in fact, having spent a considerable amount of time last year with the ID (Industrial Design) group, makes Ternus’ objective clear in contrast to Cook’s limited presence in this department.

The iPhone, as the flagship product of Apple’s portfolio, until last year had practically not been touched for half a decade, and the same has happened with other categories, such as Apple Watch, AirPods and Mac, which have continued to maintain the same design for almost a decade, with exceptions such as the Watch Ultra and MacBook Neo, which are more recent.

For the transformation of the industrial design of the next portfolio with new Apple devices, Gurman maintains that Apple’s great challenge will be to incorporate a figure to lead it.

Regarding the roadmap, New iPhones, AirPods, AI glasses, iPads, Macs and more will be launchedand Apple’s product portfolio will be the most prolific in its history, with innovative offerings already planned for this year, 2027 and beyond.

The starting signal will be given with the debut of iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and the foldable iPhonewhich Gurman calls the iPhone Ultra, in September. These devices will be expanded with the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4.

Apple Intelligence will power the new entry-level iPad thanks to a new chip, and new Macs will be launched, just as, Gurman maintains, “there is a possibility that the ‘smart home hub’ for the smart home arrives in 2026 along with an iPad mini with an OLED screen.”

Apple hopes to launch the new Apple TV and HomePod mini with Apple Intelligence this yearalthough the big year for the American technology company will be next year, since the twentieth anniversary of the iPhone will be celebrated and it is expected to deploy its entire arsenal with the presumably called iPhone 20 Pro and Pro Max, along with the second generation of Apple’s foldable.

In 2027, after the second generation of the iPhone Air, which will improve the battery experience compared to the first, Apple is preparing the launch of the new AirPods with cameras to feed Siri’s AI, and the technology company’s first smart glasses.

Gurman closes Apple’s roadmap for the coming years by mentioning that “by the end of 2027 or 2028, one of the company’s big launches will be the tabletop robot“. It will be an improved version of its smart home display with a robotic arm. Already looking further into the future, Apple continues to work on a renewed version of Apple Vision.
