Trento, Bari and Brescia lead the LinkedIn ranking of growing cities

“With the first Italian edition of Città in Crescita we wanted to answer a question that concerns all professionals: what are the best places today to grow your career outside of the large metropolitan hubs?” explains Michele Pierri, Head of LinkedIn News Italy. “Reading Italy solely through LinkedIn data, the answer takes us to ten medium-sized cities, from Trento to Modena, where hiring is increasing, the demand for work is growing and those arriving from outside choose to stay or put down roots. It is an authentic photograph of our country: of an economy made up above all of small and medium-sized enterprises, manufacturing districts and exporting SMEs that continue to hire and innovate away from the spotlight, but also of entities rooted in the territory such as universities and research centres. Città in Crescita also demonstrates that opportunities do not only exist in Milan or Rome, but in territories where lifestyle and professional growth can finally coincide“.

From a sectoral point of view, business services, consultancy and IT consultancy are among the leading sectors in all the territories examined, while the production of machinery represents an employment pillar in nine of the ten cities identified, flanked by specific vocations such as the automotive sector in Modena or the hotel sector in Bolzano.

The survey also highlights the consolidation of flexible working methods: the hybrid formula confirms itself as prevalent in all the areas analysed, with peaks recorded in Bari, Trento and Verona, where significant shares of offers in full remote mode also emerge. This evolution demonstrates how the ongoing occupational transition is supported by a redefinition of professional priorities, in which the sustainability of the cost of living and the efficiency of local services play a decisive role in talent mobility choices.
