The Italian industrial system is equipped with a new financial instrument aimed at guaranteeing the security of supplies and reducing foreign dependence in the key sectors of the energy and digital transition. With the entrusting of management to Invimit for the real estate component and to the Italian Investment Fund for the business component, the National Fund for Made in Italy (FNMI), established by framework law no. 206 of 2023 promoted by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (Mimit) in concert with the MEFofficially enters the operational phase with a total budget of 900 million euros. The initiative aims to mobilize public and private capital to strengthen national value chains.
“With this Fund we provide the country with a stable industrial policy instrument, capable of supporting the growth of businesses and strengthening strategic supply chains, starting with that of critical raw materials, decisive for the energy and digital transition and for the most advanced sectors of our economy”, declares the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, sen. Adolfo Urso. “The objective is to mobilize new investments, secure supply chains, reduce dependencies on foreign countries and consolidate Italy’s industrial sovereignty”.
The financial structure is divided into two sections: the Real Asset Fund, equipped with 300 million euros, is oriented towards real estate investments to support supply chainsWhile the Business Fund, with an endowment of 600 million euros, intervenes with direct and indirect operations in the capital of companies at market conditions. This last segment will pay particular attention to the entire supply chain of critical raw materials, covering the entire cycle from extraction to transformation, up to recycling and reusewith the possibility of extending the range of action to other strategic sectors identified by the Mimit technical committee to consolidate the industrial autonomy of the country.
