Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sucker Punch Productions have announced two new contents for Ghost of Yotei, both expected for October 1st together with the launch of Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition, also available in physical version. The first is “Echoes of Sekigahara”, a narrative expansion that alternates the present timeline with flashbacks set during the period Atsu spent on the mainland. In the present, the protagonist will meet Nagato, a figure linked to her past who has just arrived in Ezo, and will explore an unprecedented valley once inhabited by Snake and his band of loyalists, the Vipers. In flashbacks, however, the player will relive Atsu’s experience during the battle of Sekigahara, a key moment in his story before returning to his homeland for his mission of revenge. The expansion will introduce new enemies, new heavy weapons, new armor sets and new dyes.

The second content is “Most Wanted”, a new single-player survival mode that reinterprets the game’s combat in a roguelike key. The player will accept bounties to start new runs, where eliminating enemies will grant perks and unlock additional characters to control. The released trailer shows Atsu dealing with double katanas, Oyuki specializing in kusarigama and Nagato expert in the use of yari; the developers promise further details in the coming weeks.

Those who do not yet own the game will be able to purchase the Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition, including the main title, Ghost of Yotei Legends (the online cooperative component for up to four players which culminates in a Raid) and the two new contents. The Complete Edition also includes all the contents already present in the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Charm of Hokkyokusei; those who purchase by September 30th will receive the Sakai armor in advance, from October 1st, a tribute to Jin’s family armor in Ghost of Tsushima.

Those who already own Ghost of Yotei will be able to access “Echoes of Sekigahara” and “Most Wanted” by purchasing the update to the Complete Edition, which at the same time also unlocks the contents of the Digital Deluxe Edition and the Hokkyokusei Charm for those who have not already obtained them; also in this case, pre-ordering by September 30th will guarantee early access to the Sakai armor. In addition to the two new contents, the Complete Edition introduces new music tracks for Watanabe mode, which can be used throughout the game when the mode is active, new stamps for Photo Mode, additional cosmetics for New Game+ and new trophies related to “Echoes of Sekigahara” and “Most Wanted”.

Even those who do not purchase the update will be able to benefit from an update from October 1st, which will introduce the Beauty of Yotei mode (a sort of contemplative screensaver on Ezo’s scenarios, also useful for taking new photos in Photo Mode) as well as new accessibility features, including the ability to maintain the aesthetic appearance of one armor while using the statistics of another, and a new high contrast option. Ghost of Yotei is available now on PlayStation 5.
