Perplexity and NVIDIA announced the launch of “Portable Computer”, an artificial intelligence agent designed with “local-first” architecture, optimized and made available in preview version on the NVIDIA DGX Spark hardware platform. The initiative transfers the search and reasoning functions typical of virtual agents directly to users’ physical systems, enabling complex workflows and file management locally to protect the confidentiality of information, models and processing activities.
NVIDIA DGX Spark infrastructure delivers the speed of large language model inference and continuous operation needed to handle long-running private compute jobs. The software is able to operate both with local archives and to connect to external applications such as Gmail, Outlook, Slack and GitHuboffering the possibility of selectively transferring certain operations to cloud infrastructures in cases where updated data or advanced computational capabilities are required. Native compatibility with the Windows operating system will be made available starting in September.
