As reported by Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple is working on two updates for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 which could make the device much more competitive in the eyes of users oriented towards fitness and health monitoring. Alongside this, the company would continue to evaluate two finishes for the long-awaited ceramic version of the smartwatch.
The two main innovations concern the detection of heart rate in continuous mode, therefore also active outside of training sessions, and a substantial revision of the app dedicated to fitness and health. According to Gurman, the new software would aim to show a wider range of metrics related to well-being, approaching the approach already adopted by applications such as Whoop and Oura, which in recent years have gained ground thanks to the ability to return a more readable picture of the data collected.
On the aesthetic front, a further detail is now added to the rumors already circulated about a possible ceramic variant for Apple Watch Series 12: according to Bloomberg, the model would be available in two colours, the classic white and a dark grey. New straps are also planned, with additional colors and configurations compared to the current range.
Looking further ahead, Bloomberg indicates the possibility of a deeper redesign of the aesthetic language of the watch, introduced in 2024 with the Series 12 and characterized by a thinner body at the expense of bezels. Apple would be aiming to present this change with the Series 13, although without ruling out a postponement to the Series 14.
