CT Group tests UAV ‘aerial workhorse’

CT UAV, a member of CT Group, announced the design and successful test flight of the CT Pegas 230 model with the ability to carry a load of 100 kg.

CT Pegas 230 is a heavy transport unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), with a maximum takeoff weight of 230 kg. CT UAV representative said the device is called “aerial workhorse” because it can support the transportation of goods, supplies, and equipment to hard-to-reach projects, mountainous areas, remote areas, and difficult terrain. During the stormy season, UAVs can be used to deliver food, water, medicine and essential supplies to areas that are cut off or difficult to reach.

Most UAVs developed by Vietnamese enterprises have a payload of 5-15 kg. Some models such as the H-X7 of a member enterprise of the Vietnam Aerospace Association were announced to reach 50 kg.

To develop a 100 kg load-carrying device, CT UAV said the company had to address the requirements of the body structure, propulsion system and flight control. The aircraft model also needs to meet wind resistance, maintain stability when carrying large loads and ensure safety during operation.

“CT Pegas 230 is currently receiving orders for 135 aircraft from a number of domestic units,” the company representative revealed and is working with partners in a number of other countries to aim for export.

CT Group was established in 1992, starting from trade and manufacturing before participating in the high-tech field. The company said it started researching UAVs in 2016 and currently has 5 UAV factories.

In August 2025, the company attracted attention when it signed a memorandum of understanding to export unmanned transport aircraft to Korea. One month later, CT UAV and Airbility performed a test flight of the UAV prototype at Boryeong Airport, South Korea.

In March this year, CT announced the successful development of a swarm UAV system to support firefighting in small alleys and deep alleys, where fire trucks are difficult to reach. The enterprise also has an investment project for a low-range economic center (LAE) in Ho Chi Minh City, with a capital scale of VND 6,000 billion and a floor area of 500,000 m2, introduced as the largest in ASEAN.

According to Mr. Tran Quang Khoi, Deputy General Director of CT UAV, besides CT Pegas 230, the company is researching and developing super heavy UAVs capable of carrying a load of 500 kg. The product is expected to launch in the near future.

Drones are in the list of 30 strategic technology products issued by the Government in May. This is also one of 6 strategic technology products prioritized for immediate deployment according to the Government’s program.
