Pixel Fold, Google’s foldable smartphone will cost ,800

On the occasion of the Google I / O conference, the giant officially presented Pixel Fold, the very first model of the Google smartphone line that folds on itself and opens to reveal a large internal screen. Currently confirmed only for the USA, UK and Germany, it will arrive in the hands of consumers in June at a cost of 1,799 dollars: it is destined to fight head-to-head with the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which will be launched more or less in the same window by the undisputed leader of the foldable sector, Samsung. Google showed off a zipper that makes the crease virtually invisible when opened, a real step up from anything we’ve seen so far.

When closed, the Pixel Fold has a 5.8-inch screen. When unfolded, it becomes a 7.6-inch tablet. Both screens are OLEDs with a 120Hz refresh rate. In addition, the folding screen is covered with a thin layer of glass to make it more resistant. The resolution of the internal display is 1080 x 2092 pixels, with a peak brightness of 1550 nits. The internal one + from 2208 x 1840 pixels with 1450 nits. The processor is Google’s Tensor 2, the same as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, but also the Pixel Tablet announced today. The RAM is 12GB, and will be available in two sizes of storage, 256 and 512GB. Google promises more than 24 hours of battery life with sustained use, and the Pixel Fold is compatible with 30W fast charging or wireless Qi charging. Finally, the main camera is a 48 megapixel, accompanied by the 5x optical zoom and a 10.8 megapixel ultra-wide angle.
