Twitter founder Jack Dorsey said in a tweet that he is in part responsible for centralization and the lack of freedom on the Internet and regretted it. “The focus on discovery and identity in large corporations has really damaged the Internet. I realize that I am partly responsible, and I am sorry for that,” he wrote in a tweet.

Dorsey recalled with nostalgia the first online communication systems such as Usernet, Inter Relay Chat and e-mail itself. In the past, the Twitter founder has complained that not even Web 3.0, the new phase of the Internet hailed by supporters as a decentralized version of the Internet based on the blockchain, is able to escape the control of the giants of the network such as Amazon, Apple, Alphabet and A half.
After Twitter banned former US president Donald Trump for violating the platform’s rules, Dorsey spoke of “a dangerous precedent”, referring to “the power an individual or company has over a part of the global public conversation”. While still CEO of Twitter, Dorsey founded Bluesky, a decentralized social media system, which he believes it will take years to develop and aims to put power back into the hands of users and allow the creation of many social networks.
