WhatsApp will now let you change the background and modify the style of your photos using generative AI | TECHNOLOGY

WhatsApp is developing new functionalities based on generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for photo editing, among which stands out the one that allows you to modify your background and replace it with another, as well as transform your style based on user descriptions.

In recent months, Meta has developed new tools based on generative AI, such as the Meta AI chatbot and Expressive Media Universe (EMU), a solution that creates images from text and that allows you to create stickers from the messaging applications themselves to share them on the conversations.

With the announcement of both services, the company also indicated that it would incorporate two more tools based on generative AI for editing images that use EMU technology on Instagram. These are Restyle, which would allow visual styles to be applied to images based on a description, and Backdrop, to modify the background following the user’s instructions.

The company hopes to bring these possibilities to the WhatsApp communication platform as well, as WABetaInfo recently confirmed in the latest version for Android 2.24.7.13, released through the Google Play beta program.

This communication service has incorporated a new button in the photo sending interface, which currently presents options such as cropping and rotating the photo, adding stickers and text, or the drawing tool.

Along with the icon for the sending quality of the photograph, HD, another has been incorporated that brings together three options: ‘Backdrop’ (Background), ‘Restyle’ (Change style) and ‘Expand’ (Expand), which will allow you to enlarge the image. image completing users the ability to adjust the size of the photos according to their needs.

At the moment these features focused on photo editing are in development for Android, and it is unknown if iOS devices will arrive.
