The only ones in the world: Dok – Ing introduced an innovative robotic fleet for underground mining

On Monday, the Croatian company DOK-ING presented an innovative electric robotic fleet of remotely controlled machines for underground platinum mining, the so-called Electric narrow reef equipment (NRE), the only such fleet in the world.

Innovative robots, it was said during the presentation, are the most technologically advanced machines in mining and the only ones in the world that enable the production of platinum from ultra low profiles. By robotizing the process, the machines increase safety and increase the efficiency of platinum production by up to 70 percent.

The founder and owner of DOK-ING, Vjekoslav Majetić, said that his company is known for its export program, that abroad is their area of interest, so the new machines will mostly work in the world’s mines.

He did not want to talk about the price of the machines, saying it is relatively low compared to what the machines provide. He is sure that DOK-ING will have more orders from world customers than it can produce annually. Majetic also said that with the presented production plant, the robotic fleets for mining are at the top of the world in terms of environmental care, since the machines are completely electric or battery-powered.

The head of the Mining Program at DOK-ING, Luka Petro, said that the new robotic fleet reduces the risk for people without exposing them to danger, and thus saves human lives. He stated that this is the only fleet in the world that enables mechanization and exploitation from ultra-low production panels that are lower than 1.7 meters.

“Reducing the height increases the concentration of ore, and mechanization increases the productivity and safety of workers,” said Petro, adding that NRE equipment is unique in several respects. It is fully electric, thus reducing noise in mines, reducing exhaust gases and reducing the total carbon footprint. The fleet is, moreover, remotely controlled, thus eliminating the presence of people in unsafe areas – mines. Also, with caterpillar and electric drive machines can work on slopes of 22 degrees, which allows mining companies to produce from sections of the mine that have hitherto been unattainable and economically unprofitable.

DOK-ING’s NRE fleet consists of three machines that together complete the drilling, cleaning and anchoring process.

Envoy of the Prime Minister and Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia for Defense Damir Krstičević emphasized that DOK-ING has been following them since its inception, and that the company has developed into a world-renowned company known for innovative solutions.

“In a short time, you have become a recognized Croatian company in the global market, and today you are a world leader in the development and production of various terrestrial unmanned systems,” said Krstičević, adding that it is a company that develops innovative solutions applicable in defense and security, as well as in civilian clothes, all with the aim of saving human lives.
