Google improves 'Find my device': now you can locate your Android even if it does not have an Internet connection | TECHNOLOGY

Google has launched the new ‘Find my device’, which elevates the experience offered by this service by allowing you to locate devices and accessories offline, track compatible Bluetooth items from third-party brands and share accessories with friends and family.

‘Find my device’ is a service that Google has developed for Android that helps find a remotely linked device in case it is lost or stolen, as well as delete all the information it contains remotely.

The new version, which Google launched this Monday, expands the capabilities to be able to locate an Android phone or tablet even if they do not have an Internet connection, as explained on its official blog.

Additionally, Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro users will also be able to locate their devices if they are turned off or have run out of battery.

In May, the company will expand compatibility of this service with third-party tracking accessories, from brands such as Chipolo and Pebblebee, that have been designed for use on the Google service.

In addition to being compatible with the new network that alerts if an unknown Bluetooth element is detected that follows the user, those that the user has placed on their belongings can also be located. In the latter case, you can use the Find Nearby button, which shows the exact location of the Bluetooth device or the lost device.

The location of a lost item linked to the Find My Device app, such as your keys or wallet, will also be visible on Nest devices when they are lost at home.

Finally, the new ‘Find my device’ allows you to share accessories with friends and family, so that these people also keep an eye on your location.

Google has noted that the new ‘Find my device’ works on devices starting with Android 9 and that it is “secure by default and private by design.” It is initially available in the United States and Canada.
