Meta temporarily suspends Threads in Türkiye due to data sharing restriction with Instagram

Meta announced this Monday that it will close as of April 29 and temporarily its platform Threads in Turkey to comply with an order from the competition authority.

The decision will not have any impact on Meta’s other networks, such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, the company said in an entry on a corporate blog.

The temporary closure responds to an order issued by the Turkish competition regulator (Rekabet Kurumu), which prohibited the exchange of data between Threads and Instagram.”
