Falls, dances and somersaults: this was the life of the hydraulic robot Atlas | VIDEO | Boston Dynamics | YouTube | | TECHNOLOGY

A few days ago the company Boston Dynamics reported that it would say goodbye to its humanoid robot Atlas, one of the first prototypes that revolutionized robotics with its somersaults, curious dances and also spectacular falls.

And the model developed by the American company copied human movements. During the last 10 years, the hydraulic robot surprised with its capabilities, even performing heavy work.

In a recent video shared on YouTube you can see how Atlas carried out his tasks with some comfort, although it cost him several hits while running, jumping or simply transporting some objects. This is the testing process, where you can also see the work of the engineers.

It is worth noting that the project began in 2009. Before the Atlas robot was launched, in 2011 Boston Dynamics showed the world its bime robot called PETMAN. It was in 2013 that the first version of its most popular robot appeared

The success of this machine has been such that three years ago the company published a music video in which two of its humanoid robots participate along with a Spot robot and a Handle robot, demonstrating their dancing skills.

The electric future

But the farewell to the old Atlas is to make way for a new version of the humanoid robot, now completely electric and designed for application in the real world.

The video presentation has been surprising. The robot maintains some characteristics: it is still a humanoid robot, with a head, trunk, two arms and two legs, but with an updated and more agile body.

According to information from Europa Press, this change has also been a market strategy since the robotics engineering company has partnered with a small group of clients, including Hyundai, with whom they will contribute to the development of capabilities.
