Nintendo has just published Paper Mario: The Millennial Portal on Switch, the very famous episode of the saga which twenty years ago, on GameCube, marked a turning point for the series of action role-playing games starring the most famous Italian of video games. The release of this re-edition also involves Fabriano, the Italian paper company, which after Canova, D’Annunzio, Fellini, Buonarroti, Beethoven and Garibaldi, has now included Paper Mario among its “timeless masters”, which the company defines them as “guardians of a centuries-old tradition that have found their expression in paper”.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Portal is a role-playing game that sees Mario and his companions searching for the Star Gems, needed to open a legendary portal and save Princess Peach. The game world, entirely made of paper, is full of surprises and turn-based battles featuring Bowser, Kamek and many other enemies. The combat system, faithful to the original, requires a combination of attack, defense and timing to get the better of your opponents. Players will be able to upgrade their characters by equipping special tiles and using items collected along the way, as well as using powerful Star Gems to perform special attacks.
