Catherine Colonna will be appointed French Foreign Minister

Jean-Yves Le Drian will be replaced by Catherine Colonna as Foreign Minister of France, the Secretary General of the Elysee Palace announced.

Colonna is a diplomat, previously headed the French diplomatic mission in Italy, and is currently the French ambassador to Great Britain.

Colonna, 66, was the spokesman for the late French President Jacques Chirac. Thus, she will become the second woman Foreign Minister of the fifth French Republic (the first is Michel Allio-Marie, who headed the diplomatic mission from 2010 to 2011).
