Leipzig – Violent attacks on the police in Saxony! After a major raid against nine suspected left-wing extremists, the police station in the Connewitz district of Leipzig was attacked by chaos on Friday night.

At around 10:30 p.m., the rioters hurled several paving stones against the entrance area of ​​the precinct on Biedermannstrasse. “A window was damaged,” a police spokeswoman told BILD.

At the same time, the facade was daubed with huge black graffiti (10 x 2.5 meters). With the hate letter combination “ACAB” (“All cops are bastards”), which means “All police officers are bastards”.

Barricades erected, glass containers overturned

The police had to respond to further “incidents”. Barricades were erected on several streets in the left-wing alternative district. To do this, the unknown people pulled waste glass containers onto the street, tipped them over or stacked wooden pallets.

The police spokeswoman: “An attempt was made to set the barriers on fire, but it didn’t work.”

Attack follows raids by “Soko LinX”

In the past, there have been repeated, sometimes violent, clashes between left-wing extremists and the police in Connewitz. The area in the Wiedebach Passage has also been the target of politically motivated vandalism on several occasions.

This time the attacks were probably a reaction to the major raid that took place on Wednesday Leipzig was carried out. The LKA and the special commission “Soko LinX”, which is responsible for investigating and prosecuting left-wing extremist political crimes, searched apartments in several parts of the city.

The nine accused (seven men, two women) are said to have jointly attacked a neo-Nazi (22) at Leipzig Central Station on November 6, 2023. He had to be treated in a clinic. Some are also accused of criminal damage, arson and assault on a police officer.
