United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution in which it comes convened a high-level conference aimed at promoting a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to reiterate the call for a “global, just and lasting” peace in the Middle East.
The text, adopted with 157 votes in favour, eight against and seven abstentions, lays the foundations for the celebration of the “High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Solution of the Palestinian Question and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution”, which will be held from June 2 to 4, 2025 in New York.
The resolution also calls for the adoption of a final declaration following the meeting in the US city that outlines a roadmap for a peaceful resolution to the conflict Israeli-Palestinian and the creation of two states.
Il document calls on Israel to “immediately and completely cease all forms of violenceincluding military attacks, destruction and acts of terror” and “new settlement activities” in the occupied Palestinian territories, to evacuate “all” settlers and put an end to “their illegal actions.”
Furthermore, it recalls that the Jewish State, as an occupying power, must comply with the obligations described in the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice.
