Construction of a new reactor has begun in Iranian Isfahan

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, said that construction of a new nuclear reactor had begun in the area of ​​the city of Isfahan. According to him, this is a research facility where new types of nuclear fuel will be tested.

The reactor is located on the territory of the Isfahan Nuclear Research Center – the head enterprise of Iran’s nuclear program. The official emphasized that only Iranian scientists, engineers, technicians and builders are involved in both planning and construction.

Eslami called the increase in the production of nuclear energy for the needs of the Iranian economy the main task of the department. He said that in the southern regions of the country, searches are underway for a site for the construction of a second nuclear power plant, in addition to the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
