Drought revealed ominous “starvation stones” at the bottom of the Rhine River

The drought in Germany has made “starvation stones” visible at the Rhine River’s bottom (in German: Hungerstein). Even many hundred years ago, during comparable droughts, warnings about the dangers of drought were inscribed on stones. For instance, a famine could be predicted by a severe drought. The Czech Republic also has stones that are similar.
