European Commission: Porn providers allow children to watch adult videos

The European Commission presented the preliminary findings of an investigation launched in May 2025 concerning the activities of Pornhub, Stripchat, XNXX and XVideos. The report claims that the platforms do not take measures to protect the rights and well-being of children, reports France 24. In order to access porn sites, children simply need to declare that they are over 18 years old.

The EU is calling for an age verification method that will deny access to minors while ensuring other users’ right to privacy. If action is not taken, companies face fines of up to 6% of their global turnover.

Let’s add: on March 25, a jury in Los Angeles made a precedent-setting decision, finding Meta and Google responsible for the depression and anxiety disorder suffered by a twenty-year-old woman who had been compulsively using their platforms since the age of six.

The jury found that the plaintiff’s harm was caused by the “careless” design of the apps of both technology companies. The damages awarded by the court were $3 million, of which Meta must pay 70% and Google 30%.
