The US offers about 8.5 million euros as a reward for information about the leader of an Iraqi militia

The United States Government has offered a reward of up to ten million dollars (around 8.5 million euros) for information regarding the leader of the pro-Iranian Iraqi militia Kataeb Sayid al Shuhada (KSS) – which Washington considers a terrorist group – Hashim Finyan Rahim al Saraji, also known as Abu Alaa al Ualai.

“Help stop the violence and attacks against US diplomatic facilities and innocent civilians in Iraq. Send us your tip,” the Rewards for Justice program said in a message on social media, indicating that Al Saraji heads KSS, “a terrorist group in Iraq aligned with Iran.”

Thus, he has stated that “KSS members have killed Iraqi civilians and have attacked US diplomatic facilities in Iraq, in addition to attacking US military bases and personnel in Iraq and Syria”, while offering “a relocation and a reward” to those who provide information about Al Saraji.

The United States recently issued another reward offer for the leader of the pro-Iran Iraqi militia Kataeb Hezbollah, responsible for the kidnapping of journalist Shelly Kittleson, who was held for about a week before being released.

Various Iraqi militias launched attacks against US interests in the country in response to the surprise offensive launched on February 28 by the United States and Israel against Iran. A ceasefire has been in force since April 8, extended on Tuesday by US President Donald Trump.
