Kuwait denounces a “cowardly attack” against two border posts with drones launched from Iraq

The Kuwaiti authorities have denounced this Friday a “cowardly attack” against two border posts reached in the last few hours by drones supposedly launched from Iraq, an event that has resulted in no fatalities and for which for now there is no claim of responsibility.

“This morning, two posts on the northern border of the State of Kuwait have been the target of a cowardly attack with two drones loaded with explosives (…) launched from Iraq,” said the spokesman for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, Saud Abdulaziz al Atuan, in a message published by the Army on social networks.

“The attack has caused material damage, but fortunately there are no victims,” ​​he said, before emphasizing that the authorities “immediately initiated the necessary procedures to address the incident”, without further details on the matter.

Kuwait has not directly accused anyone of the attack, although during the conflict unleashed by the offensive launched by surprise on February 28 by the United States and Israel against Iran, it was the target of dozens of attacks by Iranian forces and pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.

Iran and the United States agreed on a two-week ceasefire on April 8 – extended on Tuesday by US President Donald Trump – and began a process of talks, mediated by Pakistan, to try to reach an agreement to end the conflict, which affected the entire Middle East region.
