British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Donald Trump spoke on the phone about the “urgent need” to resume cargo transportation through the Strait of Hormuz, reports Downing Street.
Starmer’s office detailed that he shared with Trump the progress of the joint initiative with French President Emmanuel Macron to restore freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Before the start of the American-Israeli joint airstrikes against Iran, 20 percent of the world’s energy supplies passed through Hormuz.
Due to the war, the impassability of the strait has caused prices to rise in the world, including Great Britain.
