Putin removed Yevgeny Primakov from the post of head of Rossotrudnichestvo, his place will be taken by Igor Chaika

Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Igor Chaika, the 37-year-old son of former Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika, as head of Rossotrudnichestvo. By another decree, he dismissed Yevgeny Primakov, the grandson of former Russian Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov, from this post. Primakov has headed the department since 2020.

The Russian economic publication Vedomosti quoted Putin’s decree: “To appoint Igor Yuryevich Chaika as head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, compatriots living abroad, and international humanitarian cooperation, releasing him from his post.”

Yevgeny Primakov wrote in his Telegram channel that he is not going to continue public service and is not going to run for the State Duma. “I would like to return to journalism, analytics, now I’m interested in scientific work.

Our parting with the civil service is done out of love and mutual respect. Without the slightest doubt, I remain a patriot of Russia and count myself in the team of our Supreme Commander-in-Chief. It’s still the same path, now “in civilian life,” he writes.

Evgeny Primakov in the period from 2005-2007. was the chief of the Middle East bureau of NTV, and later he headed the bureau of Channel One in Israel. Since 2011, he worked in the office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, then as the author and presenter of the International Review program on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
