Putin open to short ceasefire after phone call with Trump

Moscow wants to achieve war goals

Moscow said that Putin had told Trump his view of the situation at the front and accused Kiev of terrorism and attacks on civilian targets. The Kremlin chief once again insisted on Russia’s war goals, but he would prefer to achieve them through negotiations.

As part of its defensive campaign, Ukraine is systematically and recently increasingly successfully targeting the Russian oil industry, which is important for Moscow’s financing of the war of aggression. Russian attacks in Ukraine cause civilians to die almost every day, and homes and infrastructure vital to their residents are destroyed.

Last year there was a three-day ceasefire over World War II commemorations. There have already been several attempts at temporary ceasefires in the Russian war of aggression, which has been going on for more than four years, in which both sides accused each other of violations – most recently a good two weeks ago for Orthodox Easter.
