Suspicion of jihadism: Over a hundred arrests in Turkey

It 110 arrested is accused of organizing courses as part of illegal associations, indoctrinating children with IS ideology and collecting donations for the militia. They are also said to have tried to recruit new IS members.

Raids in Turkey against IS suspects

The news agency Anadolu According to the report, the arrests occurred in three provinces in several simultaneous raids. The focus was therefore on the metropolis of Istanbul. The officers confiscated rifles and ammunition as well as documents and digital data carriers.

Last week, police arrested more than 300 people in raids against IS suspects in almost 50 provinces, the Interior Ministry said.

At the beginning of April, two police officers were injured in an attack in front of the Israeli Consulate General in Istanbul. At the time, the Turkish authorities blamed “a terrorist organization that uses religion for its own purposes” for the crime, without explicitly naming IS.
