Death toll from Israeli attacks in Lebanon rises to more than 3,100 despite ceasefire in force

This Friday, the Government of Lebanon raised the death toll to more than 3,100 and 9,400 injuries due to attacks perpetrated by Israel against its territory since March 2, figures that have not stopped increasing despite the ceasefire reached in mid-April and extended on two occasions.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health has specified that 3,111 people have died and 9,432 have been injured as a result of these Israeli bombings in a new report published by the state news agency NNA.

These data include the deaths of 123 health professionals, seven more than the 116 registered in the balance sheet issued by the Lebanese authorities the day before.

The last large-scale hostilities broke out on March 2 with the launch of projectiles by the Shiite militia party Hezbollah against Israeli territory in response to the offensive launched on February 28 by the latter country and the United States against Iran, to which the IDF has responded with an offensive and the ground invasion of part of southern Lebanon.

Previously, the parties had reached a ceasefire, specifically in November 2024, and after thirteen months of fighting following the attacks of October 7, 2023, although since then Israel continued to launch frequent bombings against the country and maintained the presence of the military in several points, arguing that it was acting against Hezbollah, amid complaints from Beirut and the group about these actions.
