Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian ordered the Ministry of Communications to restore the Internet in the country, including international Internet. The press service of the department reported this.
At the same time, the Fars agency, associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, claims that this issue is not within the jurisdiction of the president – the decision to restrict the Internet was made by the Supreme National Security Council and only it can cancel it.
The Internet in Iran has been blocked for 87 days, since the US-Israeli strike on February 28. Wealthy Iranians can afford to pay for a VPN, which allows them to bypass restrictions. The importation of Starlink terminals into Iran is classified as cooperation with foreign intelligence services.
