In the Leningrad region they are looking for the “Sosnovsky maniac”, a participant in the war in Ukraine

In the Leningrad region, a search is underway for the serial killer and rapist Andrei Kiyko, who, during his imprisonment, signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense, and last fall escaped from a hospital in Kronstadt, where he was after being wounded in Ukraine.

Kiiko, now 41, was found guilty of three murders, eight rapes and 11 robberies committed between 2004 and 2007 and was sentenced to a total of 25 years in prison. The crimes, the victims of which were young girls, were committed in the St. Petersburg Sosnovka park, due to which he received the nickname “Sosnovka maniac.”

In 2024, the criminal, who had seven years left before his release, signed a contract and went to the front – despite the fact that those convicted of sex crimes should not be allowed to serve under a contract, The Insider notes.

In January 2025, Kiiko was wounded and was undergoing treatment – first in Rostov, then in Kronstadt. A few months ago, he escaped, but until May 2026, the Ministry of Defense hid his escape, despite the danger posed by the “North Military District veteran.”
