Iran welcomes the de-embargo process, but is concerned about the American presence

Although Iran welcomes the de-blockade process, it has expressed concern about the American presence.

“We also say that we are ready to be part of that de-encirclement process, but on the other hand, our concern and our pessimism about any American presence in Iran’s neighborhood remains. We hope that the American presence will not be the reason for the emergence of rifts between the peoples of the region,” said Khalil Shirgholami, Iran’s ambassador to Armenia.

Yesterday, United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio and RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who arrived in Yerevan on a short visit, signed the framework agreement on strategic cooperation between RA and the US on the Trump Path for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project.

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan considers the signing of the TRIPP agreement a matter of weeks. For 49 years, 74 percent of the Armenian-American enterprise will belong to the USA, 26 percent to Armenia.
