Fabian murder case: “Shit, not that I still have the accelerant in the car”

Rostock (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) – A black 1-liter bottle of grill lighter sits on a wooden board in a carport among other containers. It is opened, more than half of the liquid is missing. According to the expert, enough to set fire to the body of little Fabian (8) from Güstrow after he was murdered. The bottle belongs to Gina H. (30). She is accused of luring Fabian out of the house on October 10, 2025 and killing him with six stab wounds out of jealousy.

The horrific images of the burned corpse were shown again in front of the Rostock regional court on the 9th day of the trial. Striking: Fabian’s face was almost spared from the flames.

The rest of the body is almost completely burned. “600 milliliters of grill lighter would be enough to achieve this effect,” explains a fire investigator (67) in court. He was initially unable to find any accelerant at the crime scene. After all, it is a “lightly volatile” liquid. But examinations of Fabian’s shoes, his cuffs and soil samples confirmed the terrible suspicion: the corpse had been doused with accelerant.

Grill lighter also secured from neighbor

The investigators seized various items from the defendant: including several metal canisters, three pairs PAMMYS sports shoes – and a plastic bottle with a JA! grill lighter (2.79 euros at REWE). The police also seized several containers from her neighbor Olaf K., whom the defendant is said to have led to the body after the murder. Including a bottle of Fire Lion grill lighter.

“The JA! grill lighter is more obvious than the other,” says an expert in forensic chemistry and physics (38). It fits better with the traces found. “Such a liquid could be responsible for causing the traces.”

Gina H. talked about grill lighters in phone calls

The defendant also appeared to be worried about her grill lighter before her arrest. On October 17, 2025, she spoke on the phone to her neighbor Olaf K. No accelerant found on clothing

Prosecutor Oliver Schley considers the timing of her statements to be suspicious: “When the general public was not yet aware that the body had been burned, the defendants’ conversations were about grill lighters.” Her lawyer Andreas Ohm contradicts: “Even if that Brand may not have been known: at least it was known to the defendant. She found Fabian.” Fabian’s father’s ex-girlfriend at the time had her on October 14, 2025 Body allegedly discovered by chance while walking with a friend – and called the police.

The investigators found no accelerant on Gina H’s clothing. According to the expert, this is not decisive evidence. “I assume that one wash cycle is sufficient under normal conditions,” says the expert. Grill lighter is a “highly volatile” liquid.
