Deputy Erik Pretto greets the League, "it has no political line"

The deputy Erik Pretto leave the Lega and, in an interview with the Giornale di Vicenza, he explains: “The League has always been the party of militants, instead it has become the party of the positional gains of the elected representatives. We don’t have a political line on almost anything. We chase social trends in the hope of recovering some votes, we shout slogans without these being translated into serious government actions”.

And on the disciplinary process that had been initiated by the party for the failure to pay of some contributions, Pretto adds: “That disciplinary action it is unfounded and specious.”

Paolo Borchia’s reply

“There comes a day when you have to decide whether you are militant or whether you want to be a professional politician. It seems that Pretto has decided the type of path he wants to follow.” As Paolo Borchiahead of delegation of the Lega al European Parliamentcomments on Erik Pretto’s announced departure from the party.

“I payments they are sacred. As I recalled a few days ago on a similar case, I believe that the principle of contributing economically to the life of the movement is not up for debate, it is a question of respect towards militancy. Whoever is elected, especially without going through preferences, has a moral obligation towards the leadership that chose him and the base. It’s too convenient to make excuses about the failure to share the political line, that is discussed in the section and in the boards, not with attacks in the press and social media. Humanly – concludes Borchia – I am very disappointed.”

Lazzarini, “loyalty remains a sacred value”

“I take note of my colleague Erik Pretto’s decision to leave the League. I have been in this party for almost thirty years and for me loyalty remains a sacred value, which is not measured only in years but in respect of a common project”, says the Venetian League deputy Arianna Lazzarini. “Personal choices must be respected, but coherence and loyalty towards those who have placed their trust in us and respect towards our militants, the beating heart of the League, are for me fundamental and indispensable principles”, she reiterates.
