Record: Largest Lego set of all time is coming! Price is huge

One stone after the other, and in the end there is a record! Lego is taking its architecture series to a new level and presenting the largest building set in the company’s history. More than 12,000 pieces, a legendary structure and a challenge that will push even experienced fans to their limits.

With the model of the famous Sagrada Família in Spanish Barcelona brings the Danish Toy manufacturer one of Europe’s most famous buildings into your living room. And in a dimension that makes you sit up and take notice: the set includes a whopping 12,060 pieces.

This is how many stones will break the old record

This represents Lego set a new record: The previous record holder, the Lego world map that came onto the market in 2021, “only” had 11,695 pieces. The new masterpiece made of clamping blocks surpasses them by 365 bricks.

The special thing about the model (set number 210659) is the Record dimensions: The construction is based exactly on the construction process of the original. First, the vault with the crypt and the crib façade, which is dedicated to the birth of Jesus, must be put together – those parts of the basilica that architect Antoni Gaudí (1852 to 1926) was able to accompany during his lifetime.

This is followed by the Passion facade, the naves and the western sacristy. Then things go high: six towers have to be built before the eastern sacristy and the imposing main entrance front (fame facade) complete the building.

The finished model is 62 centimeters high, 47 centimeters wide and 39 centimeters deep. Transparent stones also create a deceptively real stained glass effect in the windows. The trade magazine “Stonewars” estimates the construction time for the model to be 25 to 35 hours – depending on skill and experience.

A Lego spokeswoman told BILD: “In general, a set of this size often goes through a process that often takes months – from the first free-standing concept models to intensive stability tests to the logical preparation of the complex building instructions.” There is usually a lead time of over a year between the final design and the actual market launch.

Lego designer Rok Žgalin Kobe: “Our goal was to honor Gaudí’s vision with the greatest respect. It’s not just the greatest Lego-Set of all time, but also a model of one of the most ambitious architectural works in the world.”

Lego fans will have to wait that long

The Sagrada Família can currently only be pre-ordered in the Lego online shop. And Klemmstein fans will probably only be able to start construction on November 1, 2026. The kit should then be delivered.

However, you have to dig deep into your pockets: the set will cost 749.99 euros (scale: approx. 1:280). However, it still remains below the most expensive Lego kit Death Star from the “Star Wars” serieswhich costs an impressive 999.99 euros.

These are the cheaper versions

According to the portal steine-kanal.de, if you like it cheaper, there are also cheaper alternatives: The German Lego competitor BlueBrixx offers a church kit for just 139.95 euros – but only with 3,963 parts. The model by South Korean designer JeongwonE (LesDiy MOC) has 10,083 parts and costs 555.99 euros. The Sagrada Família in small format from the Chinese manufacturer Xingbao (approx. 145 euros) even has 10,328 parts. When it comes to the number of building blocks, Lego is clearly ahead – in addition to the price.
