Putin signed a law allowing the property of relocants to be seized for criticizing the regime

The law amends the Code of Administrative Offences. It allows the seizure of apartments, cars, and accounts of citizens located abroad. The law will come into force on September 1, 2026.

The Moscow Times explains that property can also be seized for calls for sanctions against the Russian Federation, “propaganda of Nazi symbols,” and the production and distribution of “extremist materials.” MT draws attention to the fact that, according to the law, the value of the seized property will not be limited by the amount of fines.
