Manuel Adorni: Chief of Staff of Argentina admits that he hid $500,000 from an affidavit

Adorni reported the night before – in an interview given to the LN+ channel – that he presented the sworn statements to the Argentine Anti-Corruption Office rectifications corresponding to 2023 and 2024in addition to that of 2025, more than three months after the beginning of a judicial investigation against him for alleged illicit enrichment.

Asked why these funds had not been declared, he responded: “We did not declare it because the way to escape the old policy was to have unpaid savings. It would never have occurred to me to save in white in those years.”

As explained by the senior official, the assets included in his corrective declarations have origin in accumulated savings for years of work in the private sector and in profits obtained through investments in cryptocurrencies.

The Chief of Staff also said that he will regularize any tax obligation derived from the rectification. “The mea culpa I am making is for having caused an involuntary error and I am going to pay everything that is appropriate,” he stated.

He also detailed Adorni that part of the funds come from investments in the bitcoin cryptocurrency carried out between 2014 and 2018. “Reconstructing history, We invested $200,000 and earned $300,000”, he indicated.

Contradictions

Adorni’s statements contrast with his previous statements before Congress and in press conferences.

On April 29, during a presentation before the Legislature, he had stated that his sworn statements included “all the details of the assets” that make up his assets, regarding which, he said, “there was never any concealment.”

Meanwhile, on March 25, he had declared – before journalists accredited to the Pink Househeadquarters of the Executive -: “Rest assured that in fact everything that has to be declared is declared in each of the organizations as it corresponds.”

Adorni is being investigated for illicit enrichment, following alleged financial irregularities detected by cash payments, and without an invoice, for the purchase of an apartment in Buenos Aires and a house in an exclusive neighborhood on the outskirts of the capitalwhich had not been declared until just a few weeks ago, as well as for remodeling works.

During this Wednesday’s interview, Adorni He also referred to the home in the exclusive neighborhood, whose ownership was in the name of his wife, Bettina Angeletti.

“That house was 100% titled in my wife’s name. and that was not seen in the sworn statement, so it is something that, among so many problems, I am correcting; “They are formalisms,” he explained.

Regarding the works carried out on that property, mentioned in the court file, he said: “The amount was lower and is being settled in court.”
