Larry Sanger, one of the founders of Wikipedia, has been permanently blocked from editing pages of the online encyclopedia. The Israel Hayom publication notes that one of the reasons for the blocking was his pro-Israel position.
Sanger, who launched Wikipedia with Jimmy Wales in 2001, previously announced the creation of the “WikiProject for Intellectual Diversity.” According to him, the initiative was supposed to return the encyclopedia to the original principles of neutrality and transparency.
A group of editors viewed Sanger’s actions as an unacceptable attempt to engage supporters in an organized manner in the debate. Other complaints included “unconstructive input” and an attempt to reveal the identities of influential anonymous editors.
Israel Hayom writes that one of the initiators of its blocking was an editor under the nickname TarnishedPath, who had previously been involved in controversy surrounding articles about Zionism and the war in Gaza.
Sanger himself claims that the current Wikipedia has moved away from the original principles of the project. According to him, the editorial community is dominated by a “globalist, academic, secular and progressive” agenda, and decisions are made by a small group of anonymous administrators.
