The new Slovenian government has canceled all anti-Israeli measures

In particular, the declaration of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir as persona non grata was canceled.

The embargo on the supply of weapons and dual-use goods to Israel and the ban on the import of products from Judea and Samaria have also been lifted.

Let us recall that it was previously reported that the crisis regarding the landing of Israeli airline planes at Ljubljana airport had been resolved.

The government led by the leader of the leftist Freedom Movement party, Robert Golob, was one of the most anti-Israeli in the European Union. In 2024, it became the state of Palestine, actively promoted anti-Israeli sanctions and imposed a complete embargo on the arms trade with Israel. Slovenian public broadcaster RTV became the first in Europe to demand Israel’s exclusion from Eurovision 2025, and in 2026 boycotted the competition altogether, citing the ongoing war in Gaza.

During the election campaign, Janša stated that if he returned to power, he would move the Slovenian embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and withdraw recognition of Palestine.

However, it should be noted that Janša’s government will be a minority government, relying on the external support of five deputies from the anti-elite pro-Russian Rešnica party, created in 2021 by opponents of government measures to limit the spread of Covid.
