Kocharyan against the CEC. the court accepted the claim of the second president

The General Prosecutor’s Office recently turned to the commission, asking for consent to initiate criminal prosecution against the second president. In a closed session, the commission gave its consent, after which charges were brought against the leader of the opposition “Armenia” bloc, with articles of abuse of office and money laundering.

Today, the Administrative Court accepted the lawsuit, in which the General Prosecutor’s Office was decided as a third party. The first session is scheduled for June 24.

The other day, the former president’s lawyer gave details of this new accusation in a conversation with journalists. According to Aram Orbelyan, the second president accused in the “March 1” case is accused of a transaction from 2004-2009, which refers to the “Master Class” tennis area.

According to the law enforcement officers, during his presidency, Kocharian, out of selfish motivations, ordered the members of the Government to adopt a decision by which the “Tennis Olympic Shift Children’s Sports School”, which is an educational institution, was sold to the “Kinetik” company for about 12 million drams, about 96 times cheaper than its real price – 1.1 billion drams.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, this property was not subject to alienation. Moreover, they claim that this property was not subject to alienation, because it belonged to the educational institution, and the Law on Education provided that the property of the educational institution should be used exclusively for educational purposes when alienating it.

But the lawyer counters that both the second president and his family members have nothing to do with the deal.

“Later, when Mr. Kocharyan did not hold a position, Sedrak Kocharyan bought a share in the given company, paying quite a lot of money. In some way, they are trying to link it with the 2004 deal,” Aram Orbelyan said.
