Teenagers almost killed a young man in Zagreb, the judge refused pretrial detention. DORH appealed the decision

The County State Attorney’s Office in Zagreb filed an appeal against the decision of the judge for youth. County Court in Zagreb, due to the rejection of the proposal to determine pre-trial detention for five minors for attempted murder. It is suspected that during June 2026, in the evening hours, between the soccer fields of two elementary schools in the Zagreb area, juveniles physically attacked a male person, kicking him several times on the head and body, causing the person to lose consciousness.

After questioning the minors, the County State Attorney’s Office in Zagreb submitted a case to the juvenile judge. The proposal of the County Court in Zagreb to determine pre-trial detention for five minors due to the risk of repeating the criminal offense (Article 123, paragraph 1, item 3 of the Criminal Procedure Act). That proposal is a judge for youthž Ž of the County Court in Zagreb refused and ordered precautionary measures against the minors. On the decision of the judge, due to the rejection of the proposal for the determination of pre-trial detention, the County State Attorney’s Office in Zagreb filed an appeal.

– In relation to all minors, the County State Attorney’s Office in Zagreb issued a decision on the implementation of preliminary proceedings, namely against five minors due to the existence of a well-founded suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of attempted murder under Article 110 in connection with Article 34 of the Criminal Code, and against two minors due to a well-founded suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of violent behavior from Article 323 of the Criminal Code – writes DORH.
