The President of Venezuela provided the first data on earthquake victims

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US administration is immediately sending search and rescue teams, doctors and humanitarian aid to Venezuela. “Our hearts are with the victims, those who lost loved ones, and the courageous rescuers,” he wrote.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first earthquake, measuring 7.2, occurred around 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Less than a minute later, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 occurred in the same area.

The USGS estimated that the epicenters of the two earthquakes were about five kilometers apart, near the city of Moron on the Caribbean coast of Venezuela, about 160 kilometers west of Caracas.
