Iran was accused of launching a UAV attack on Bahrain

Bahrain accused Iran of conducting a UAV attack, after the Iranian Guard announced that it had launched a series of retaliation against the US.

Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs today accused Iran of deploying many unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to attack the country’s territory, calling this a “serious violation of sovereignty and international law”, endangering civilians and weakening efforts to cool tensions in the region.

The agency said some UAVs had targeted Bahrain but did not specify the target. Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry also criticized Iran for “sabotaging peace efforts”.

Iranian officials have not commented on the information.

Central Command (CENTCOM), the agency in charge of US military operations in the Middle East, on June 26 announced an attack on Iran’s missile depot, UAVs and coastal radar stations, in response to Tehran’s use of a suicide UAV to attack the cargo ship Ever Lovely in the Strait of Hormuz a day ago.

CENTCOM asserted that the operation was an appropriate response to “unprovoked aggression against commercial shipping”.

Tehran has not yet claimed responsibility for the attack on the Ever Lovely ship. Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the series of US air strikes targeted many surveillance facilities along the country’s southern coast, violating the United Nations Charter as well as the agreement to end hostilities.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) then announced a raid on “targets related to US forces” in response, but did not specify the location.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry called on Gulf countries “not to let their territories be used for hostile actions” and urged the United Nations and international organizations to handle “law-breaking actions” from the US.

IRGC previously required ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz according to the route given by this force, warning that violating vehicles would be punished. IRGC also mentioned that “some authorities announced new movement flows in the Strait of Hormuz”, calling this unacceptable.
